What to Add to your Wardrobe This Fall 2024?

What to Add to your Wardrobe This Fall 2024?

While summer seems to fly by in a flash, fall lingers, letting us savor pumpkin-spiced lattes, cozy layers, new beginnings, and the changing seasons.

With fall approaching, it means one exciting thing: new trends.

For the best style trends about to hit your TikTok feed and your closet, check out these fall 2024 fashion trends that’ll get you excited for the colder weather.

Fall is my favorite season of the year.

It’s time to swap light, breezy outfits for heavier fabrics and higher necklines, and to trade flip-flops and chunky sandals for knee-high boots and sneakers.

For those who love layering, just thinking about a stylish coat over chic knitwear makes me eager to welcome the cooler temperatures.

Fall 2024 Fashion Trends You Want to Wear

Faux Fabulous

The fashion industry is moving away from real fur and embracing innovative faux fur.

Acne Studios showcased outrageous faux fur designs, turning models into fuzzy figures with oversized outerwear.

Diesel’s fall collection, led by Glenn Martens, featured distressed denim, sheer jackets, and shaggy yak-like materials reminiscent of the ’90s club kid aesthetic

Miu Miu presented convincing faux fur coats that mimicked the Mob Wife look in a more stylish way with head-to-hem fur and retro brooches.

Best in Bow

Bows were everywhere on the runways this fall, in all colors and sizes, proving that the twee trend is evolving.

Prada’s fall collection mixed past and future styles with bold cardigans, smart skirts, pretty purses, and chic satin bows.

At the Coach show, Stuart Vevers went big with 80s prom-inspired silk taffeta skirts and gigantic bows.

Vivienne Westwood’s Creative Director, Andreas Kronthaler, added a romantic touch with regal Victorian-era outfits adorned with satin silk bows.

Breton Stripes

Breton stripes are always in style.

This nautical look is a perfect match for fall fashion, like butter on bread—they just go together.

A Breton striped sweater pairs well with any type of pants, making it a great staple for your fall wardrobe.

Add tailored pants and chunky flat shoes for a charming, nerdy vibe.

In the Loop

Looped knits appeared in various forms, from grand coats to column dresses, showing how creative design can transform textiles.

Pieter Mulier’s Alaïa collection featured merino wool transformed into punchy pom-pom collars and cuffs.

Missoni reimagined evening wear with countless loops of knit, creating a full sensory experience.

Stella McCartney used yarn-like materials to mimic fur, staying true to the brand’s fur-free stance while still delivering dramatic flair.

Sparkling Sets

Twinsets have never looked better than they did on the designer runways.

Brands added dazzling beads and extravagant embellishments to long-sleeved cardigans, sweaters, and mini-shorts.

Sabato De Sarno’s collection at Gucci featured powder-colored sets with tiny sequins, giving them a cheerful look.

Ermanno Scervino used larger sequins to make the clothes shine with a bright, pearly glow.

Donatella Versace added a rebellious yet glamorous touch to her twinsets with darker knits and black beading.

Fashion Trends Inspired from Milan, Paris, and New York

With many changes happening at famous fashion houses in Milan and Paris—like Sabato de Sarno at Gucci and Chemena Kamali at Chloé—the fall 2024 fashion trends have something for everyone.

There were smart investment pieces at Max Mara and The Row, debates on how to wear clothes at Fendi, unique pairing ideas at Loewe and Dries Van Noten, and lots of fur or faux-fur coats everywhere.

If you love quirky and fun styles, you’ll find them among the big fall 2024 trends. Embracing personal style and using lots of accessories was a common theme.

Key items like great coats, well-tailored suits, and luxurious knits were also highly valued.

“I wanted to make everyday items special,” said Bottega Veneta’s Matthieu Blazy, showing that even simple pieces like leather skirts or button-down shirts can be extraordinary with some creativity and skill.

Despite social media bans at The Row and vintage-inspired styles at Altuzarra and Prada, like tea-length dresses and lady coats, it’s clear that clothes don’t need validation from fashion TikTok or gimmicks to be appreciated. Great clothes stand out on their own.

Feathery Textured Outfits

Feather embellishments, once a symbol of social status, bring a natural sense of drama to clothing.

For Fall 2024, feathers appeared in surprising ways.

Dresses at Ferragamo and Bottega Veneta featured feathered hems and necklines.

Tory Burch showcased full feather coats, and Brunello Cucinelli styled feathered skirts casually under sweaters.

Knits, Knits, Knits!

Not too long ago, cozy clothing was all the rage.

But now, as we’re getting out more, we’re moving away from being wrapped up all the time.

However, dressing up doesn’t mean you have to give up comfort.

Designers are creating leisurewear with a touch of luxury.

The Row introduced elegant cashmere pants that can work for a night out when paired with a slightly oversized blazer and pearls.

Throw on a pair of kitten heels or mules, and Jil Sander’s knit sets can easily transition into office wear.

Sweater Dress for Fall

It’s time to pack away your light and airy summer dresses until next year and get excited about the sweater dress, a fall and winter favorite.

Whether you prefer relaxed, oversized fits, wrap styles, or ribbed knits that hug your shape, there’s a sweater dress out there that’s perfect for you.

Forever Animal Print

Animal print has never gone out of style, and it’s a key trend for fall 2024, adding boldness to neutral looks.

Leopard print was prominent at Versace, Marni, and in Seán McGirr’s debut as Creative Director for Alexander McQueen.

Theory’s collection also embraced leopard print in swing dresses, smart suits, and trench coats.

Vintage Fashion is Love

Vintage fashion enthusiasts will be thrilled with the classic styles on the runway.

Designers like Altuzarra and The Row leaned into salon-style presentations this season.

The Olsens, known for their offline presence, even enforced a no social media policy at their fall 2024 Paris show, reflecting an old-fashioned mindset that was mirrored in the retro-inspired collections.

Faux Fur Outfits

The discussion around fur and faux fur can be divisive.

However, its rising popularity has spurred designers to create new fabrics and shapes that go beyond the stereotypical “mob wife” look.

Prada skillfully blended shearling to resemble fur on dress hems and sleeves.

Loewe’s Jonathan Anderson introduced a cropped pullover as an alternative to the typical fur jacket.

Bally added furry accents to sheath tops and updated asymmetric mini skirts with fur backs.

Green Stays Evergreen

Each season sees certain colors dominate, like red, butter yellow, and Barbie pink.

This season, green—a symbol of renewal—is taking the spotlight.

A retro 1970s green colored suit and jacket at Gucci, while Fforme featured sleek emerald green dresses and suit separates.

Saint Laurent embraced the rich hue in its show backdrop, with touches of olive and khaki green throughout the collection.

Coats for fall

The coats for fall are both stylish and practical.

They keep you warm, but each designer also adds their unique touch to these essential pieces.

Victoria Beckham’s collection includes shearling jackets, double-lapel peacoats, and moto-style leather jackets.

Loewe brought back Victorian-era swallowtail coats, while Bottega Veneta showcased a variety of standout designs, including cocoon-shaped jackets and woolly capes.
